Blog Task 12:

A visual mood board of 1980’s culture - showing examples of ‘official’ and ‘unofficial’ culture.

1980's

The 1980’s focused towards social, political, economic and cultural aspects which was influenced throughout the political scenes, movies and films, music, technology, etc…
During the session we learned about Margret Thatcher and ‘Thatcherism’ which played an important role in society at the time. To Take on the task I have 1 collage each for ‘Unofficial’ and ‘Official’ culture during the 1890’s.

Official

unofficial

official culture were the most popular within media and society, in which made the 80's well known as they continued to grow. EastEnders is one of the most notable as it tackles problems such as teenage pregnancies, mental health - depression, being lgbt, Prince being another who was an excellent artist who catered to black people and used his songs to talk about real life situations.
unofficial culture is the opposite, hence the name... these where the few things that happened in the 80s but wasn't as popular or just overall lesser known about these would often be describes as underground especially when it came to music and films.
