Life Drawing
Week 1
Although I already have a little bit of experience with life drawing, it has still been a challenge for me to get accurate. I struggled a lot with the proportions and the size almost not even filling up my paper or lining up the areas properly. I also found it challenging to use a HB pencil and not start to add detail as the lines don't really stand out. I also found it very challenging to try and remember the pose and go back and try and remember everything. I will definitely need to keep working on this to get better at memorising anatomy and poses. |

Week 2
The second week we worked on the robotic pose which should help with the overall anatomy, however I still struggled with getting it correct, I plan to keep working with these basic shapes in my own time. Later on I tried using the Conte Crayon more and adding more tones and depth into my life drawing and I preferred this much more to the pencil as there was quick marks and details to my work which would have taken me a while to get with just a pencil. |

Week 3
During this week we began using black and white acrylic paints and my confidence in life drawing had risen more, I felt more comfortable using pains and just trying to get the shadows and lighting down. The process was very messy but I think I have improved from the first 2 weeks. I also noticed my drawings having used so much black so I would need to look out for how much I should really use and where I can go in and lighten areas up. |

Week 4
The last week was definitely where I managed to make the most progress, I decided to start attacking my paper with watered down paint and just engage myself into my work as I was told by Tony last week to become more angry, I am not a violent person so the best thing I managed was to stop caring so much and just let my brush move however it wanted and then go back over to make sure everything was proportionate. I found having to use black paper and white paint to be the trickiest this week, I didn't realise how thin the paper was which made my watered down acrylics start to crumple the paper... I think next time I'd prefer using thicker paper and might try to do this again in my spare time. |
